CHANIN CAPITAL PARTNERS APPOINTS STEVE SEBASTIAN AS MANAGING DIRECTOR BASED IN LOS ANGELES
LOS ANGELES, CA, November 24, 2003 --
Chanin Capital Partners, a leading specialty investment banking firm, today announced the appointment of Steve Sebastian as a Managing Director based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Steve is tasked with expanding the firm’s M&A and capital raising presence on the West Coast and accelerating the overall growth of Chanin’s corporate finance franchise.
"CCP has a reputation for completing complicated and difficult transactions across many industries, working with key participants in the financial industry," said Steve Sebastian. “Over my 20-year career on both sides of Wall Street, I have come to appreciate the effectiveness of hard work, knowledge and creative thinking. It is exciting to apply these core CCP strengths to the corporate and financial investor community.”
"Having Steve on board is a tremendous win for the Firm," said Rich Morgner, Managing Director and Head of M&A. “Since we joined CCP in early 2002, the M&A Group has successfully leveraged the Firm’s restructuring relationships and capitalized on the void in the middle market to complete more than 20 transactions. We are thrilled to have Steve hit the ground running in LA and look forward to the contribution he will make as we strive to provide healthy and distressed companies with high-quality service and experienced execution.”
According to Russ Belinsky, Senior Managing Director, one of the long-term objectives for the corporate finance team is to leverage the institutional relationships the Firm has established, and to bring them new ideas. “We have been in the restructuring advisory business for nearly twenty years, and distressed M&A was a large part of that. Organic growth led to the formation of a separate M&A and corporate finance practice to service both healthy and distressed clients.”
Since 2002, Chanin’s M&A practice has steadily climbed the league tables and currently sits in the 23 rd position, up from 89th, based upon transaction volume.
Formerly, Steve was a Partner at Ravenscourt Capital, where he focused on providing financing to middle market companies. Other work history includes General Partner at Westar Capital; Senior Managing Director, Corporate Finance, at Bear Stearns; Managing Director at BT Securities/ Deutsche Banc; First VP and Partner at Drexel Burnham; and Associate at Sullivan and Cromwell. He holds an MBA/JD and BA in Mathematics and Economics from Northwestern University.
